Once Upon a Time (Epic Act 1)

February 20, 2026

There are story lines, that are used over and over again for a reason. Like a music tune you can’t forget, can’t get out of your mind, an ear worm, as Diane calls it. A qoute from a book or a movie line can become a mind worm. For me anyway. For example, Potter talking to George in Its A Wonderful Life,

“You’re worth more dead than alive!” The actual line is:

“No securities, no stocks, no bonds. Nothin’ but a miserable little $500 equity in a life insurance policy. You’re worth more dead than alive.”

The most famous line one of the best lines in the movie, well it is to me anyway:

“What do you want, Mary? Do you want the moon? If you want it, I’ll throw a lasso around it and pull it down for you. Hey! That’s a pretty good idea! I’ll give you the moon, Mary.”

Who can’t forget or doesn’t know where this line came from “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” or “ Here’s looking at you kid.”

And then there is the line that everyone has heard or read many times:

“Once upon a time”….. like the beginning to this famous story and movie or should I say movies:

“Once upon a time, in a far away land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away. But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart. And as punishment she transformed him into a hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world. The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose which would bloom until his 21st year. If he could learn to love another and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed he fell into despair and lost all hope. For who could ever learn to love a beast?………..”

Who loves us? At times, maybe due to circumstances around us, or maybe because of choices we made, each and every one of us can become a beast. Yet we are loved by someone. That someone can change our story, move it towards a happy ending.

Let us find out together who that is.
